Blah...

Sorry I've been gone a while. Been a bit depressed lately, as my surgeon disagrees with Dr. Bouncy on just about everything, including his assessment that the tumor is shrinking. I can't decide which doctor is right - the darned thing seems to change daily, shrinking and growing like a puffer fish. Since treatment is in some part decided by this issue, it's a bit scary... unfortunately there is little we can do to accurately scan this monster for size, so we won't know for sure until we take it out - and then we won't really know, because we never got an accurate idea of exactly where it was from biopsy to extraction.

Frustrating.

Also my sister had to have an endometrial/uterine biopsy last week, and it will be a while before we get the results on that. So we are generally holding our breath a lot around here. Perhaps we are restricting the oxygen to our brains a bit too much...

In the meantime, I am supplementing with D3 (I am VERY low in D), E, CoQ10, ground flax seeds, and trying to figure out how to get in calcium/magnesium without also getting the unpleasant intestinal issues that keep me up all night.

Does anybody know of something yummy to do with sardines that doesn't *also* have something to do with crackers or bread?

Sorry for the down time. Hope it is brief. You gotta expect them to happen but you don't have to like it.........

awwww Definitely not fun news to read as we all want it to be different too. So appreciate you updating and letting us be upset and angry with you.

Sardines in mustard, yum. No crackers needed.

MOM - milk of magnesia - has lots of magnesium; but gosh that will fight with the Calcium. Ranging from constipation to diarrhea does not sound too fun.

OK, since you ask, Exercise is helpful to get Calcium into the right places. Aerobic exercise, walking is good ... To be sure I was on the right track goodled Exercise and calcium absorption. http://www.askdrsears.com/html/4/T040600.asp

Are there any yarn stores within walking distance of your house :D

When you are at the computer, stand and walk in place. When you are waiting for a screen to load move your arms too, like for jumping jacks, but just keep the legs walking.

Oh geesh, it also looks like mental worry and stress decrease Calcium absorption. Get the Bobby ________ (blanking on last name here) song and play it - Don't worry Be Happy.

Dang this blowfish in your breast is really a nasty thing. How do you not stress over it and worry? Yet when you do worry, it helps the cancer progress.

I hope the news for your sister is good.

Well Eileen, you are one smart, tenacious, stubborn woman. Keep hanging tough.
Hugs, Jane

Try anchovies cooked in with your food for the calcium...I think they are very high and the cooks on tv say they add flavor without tasting fishy. Don't know what else to suggest except broccoli, which is loaded with calcium, I'm told. Check www.nutritiondata.com for ideas on how to get the stuff you need in the stuff you can eat. Dig in your claws and hang in there.

Hmmmm. Cheesy sardines?? no...ummmm Sardines and peanut butter? ugh... Sandines and fish and vinegar??? I've got nothing...

Worry decreases calcium??? Uh-oh, I better stock up.

The whole doctor thing would be quite frustrating! No one can afford a third opinion and what if that was again different? I pray when they get in there they are guided right to the SHRINKING spot!

Found this recipe at www.recipezaar.com. It got high ratings from people who tried it:

INGREDIENTS:
6 sardines (1 can, I usually use Holmes)
1/4-1/2 cup green onion, cut in 1 inch pieces
1 inch gingerroot, peeled and minced (1 inch may be too much for some)
soy sauce (to taste)
chili pepper
1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
1. Add all ingredients in small pan.
2. Heat until done.
3. Serve over hot rice.

Hope you get to feeling better..
